The Dyer County little levee was breached on Wednesday, April 27, using a track-hoe to allow floodwaters inside the areas west of the Great River Road. The decision was made on Tuesday evening, by the Dyer County Levee and Drainage Board, to breach the levee to minimize damage to it and the properties within its walls. Dyer County Sheriff's deputies blocked traffic on the Great River Road near the breech, which was next to the Obion River. A local equipment operator, Jeff Hill, was hired by the board to perform the controlled breech. Floodwaters will now begin to fill in the communities of Chic, Midway, Heloise and Everetts Lake.
